Islam encourages us to turn to Allah whenever we need help. Dua is a form of prayer that is not limited by time or place. Reciting Dua means connecting with Allah, and it is through this communication process that we get closer to our Creator.
You may ask Allah to facilitate different matters for you such as having good luck in exams, a job interview, starting a new business, or even trivial daily matters. Allah ordered us to pray (make dua) so He answers your prayers.
“And Allah says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): but those who are too arrogant to serve Me will surely find themselves in Hell - in humiliation"
(Surah Ghafir)
How to Make Dua?
To make dua, you need to block out all distractions and calm your mind. Pick a good time; often after performing a prayer, start by praising Allah The Almighty and thanking Him for all His blessings, then state your wishes that you Allah to give you.
Often our dua is answered and accepted right away, and other times it is postponed for a good cause. In any case, the faith remains that all of our duas are answered according to Allah's plan and judgment we trust.
However, there are some things we need to understand in order to ensure that our dua is not hindered by something we do without knowing, here’s a list of things to consider the next time you make dua:
We must maintain our faith (yaqeen) that Allah, The Exalted, will answer our dua. There should be no question over acceptance, and no objections to the timing of acceptance.
We must also be aware not to lose faith in our dua or get frustrated when the acceptance takes longer than anticipated. It’s delayed for a good reason after all.
We must remind ourselves that having our dua answered takes perseverance and a great desire. Allah often delays our dua acceptance so that He can hear how persistently we ask for His support.
We must ask Allah for forgiveness for the sins we committed which can be holding back the acceptance of our dua.
